Did you know that anyone can look up your name on 1881.no and find your address, phone number, and even who else lives at your address? Fortunately, you can request removal. Here's how.
Why are you listed in the first place?
1881.no, Gulesider.no and other phone directories get their data from the National Registry and telecom operators. When you register a phone number or move, your information is automatically shared with these services, unless you actively opt out.
Step 1: Register in the Reservation Registry
- Log in at reservasjon.brreg.no with BankID
- Check the boxes for reservation against phone sales and addressed advertising
- This reservation applies to all directories, not just 1881
Note: The reservation prevents new data from being shared, but doesn't remove what's already out there. For that, you need step 2.
Step 2: Request deletion from 1881.no
- Go to 1881.no and search for yourself
- Click on your profile
- Scroll down and find "Do you want to remove your listing?"
- Fill out the form with your name and phone number

Step 3: Request deletion from Gulesider.no
- Go to Gulesider.no and search for yourself
- Click on your profile
- Click "Delete me" or "Edit listing"
- Alternatively: email kundeservice@gulesider.no
Step 4: Other services to check
- Telefonkatalogen.no - Email for deletion
- Google - Search yourself and request removal of outdated results via Google's removal tool
- Facebook - Is your profile public? Make it private.
- LinkedIn - Adjust your visibility settings.
Remove Google results
Even after removal from directories, Google may still show cached results. For each outdated result: click the three dots next to the URL, select "Remove result", and Google will usually process it within a few days.
Even after deletion from directories, the information can appear in Google's cache for a few weeks. Be patient, but follow up if it doesn't disappear.
